FIRST Robotics Competition Southfield District Event seeking judges on March 4 – 5

Greetings Colleagues & Future FRC Judges,

As someone who has either participated or expressed interest in judging at a FIRST event in the past, or someone that I just think would be great at inspiring society’s next generation of engineers and scientists, I am contacting you to determine your willingness and availability to volunteer as a judge at the FIRST Robotics Competition Southfield District Event at Southfield High School on March 4 ~ 5.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) seeks to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes.  The FIRST Robotics Competition involves teams of high school students designing, building and operating their own robot that competes in a game challenge.  Information on this year’s game challenge, “FIRST STRONGHOLD,” is available at:  http://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc/welcome-to-first-stronghold.

As a judge, you will interview team representatives to determine their eligibility for a number of different awards based either on team or machine attributes.  When final teams are selected, you will be asked to prepare an award script and participate in the awards ceremony at the end of the competition.  Judges are required to be available from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
